Tonight I'm going to my inlaws. My FIL turned 84 last week so we are going for a visit. Then tomorrow I'm heading out for 18 miles....Our longest yet. I'm good with it. I can do it. Last weeks went well so I know I can manage this week. My only concern is I am a little under the weather, I haven't been running like I should and my eating hasn't been stellar. Oh well! I guess we'll hope for the best.
I hope to try out some new running capris I got. These!
It has a built in skirt. I think this is what I want to wear during the marathon and I need to start giving them a try. Will see though. I don't know what the weather is going to be like. Last I heard it was a high of around 55. With the crazy weather we've been having I won't know for sure until tomorrow.
I have also got to get new running shoes. Mine are on the last leg! Ha! I must get a new pair and break them in before the marathon. I can't believe it, but our marathon is quickly approaching. We are at a countdown of 43 days! WOW, that is a little more than a month. I have two more REALLY long runs left and then it will be smooth sailing till the big day!
I've also got my running clothes ordered. I am running with two other ladies, so we went with matching jackets and undershirts! We got those ordered and now I need to have mine monogrammed! I am going all out for this marathon!
So Saturday I'll run and then Sunday we'll watch the Superbowl! We are going to do pizza I think. Healthier pizza!
Have a super weekend!

We've been staying with friends since Monday trying to wait out the big disaster but guess what? It never happened in our area.
Northwest AR got hit hard though. Down power lines, trees, power outages. Yikes, glad I'm in heat with electricity.
Anyhow, tonight we'll be going back home. Home sweet Home! We've had a great time hanging with some friends of ours. Playing monopoly, watching TV, building fires, eating chocolate chip cookies! What more could you ask for?
We've gone to work both days because the roads haven't been bad enough. The bad part is some people drive crazy and fast, resulting in a 15 car pile up in one area. WOW! People here don't know how to drive in this stuff and they often times are either over cautious or hell on wheels.
My eating hasn't been stellar just because we've been at the disposal of others, however, it hasn't been bad either. Not beating myself up over it. I will be glad to get back home and back in the swing of things. I'm hoping to run tonight and tomorrow, then this weekend I'll do 18 miles.
I'm off to get more work done. Yesterday we had a smaller work crew so I was able to knock out some much needed work without multiple interruptions. YEAH!
Have a good Hump Day!

My trainer did a post on this today and included me in the post. I know it is several things that have to be causing the water, but I sure hope it goes away soon! Here is her blog today.
Our 16 miler this weekend went fantastic! About mile 14-15, I started feeling very tired. The temps were high 30's. Cold for us people in Arkansas. We had already been going 3 hours at this point, so we were run down. I honestly think it was a mixture of several things. One I ran a 1/2 marathon less than we week before this run, I also didn't get much sleep on that trip, and I spent several days travelling, off my normal routine and I lacked some water at the beginning of the week. I did eat good all week but I think the above was just seriously one reason I seemed to suffer during those last few miles. About mile 14.5 we fueled again and made it just fine. I was glad I had another fuel.
I also tried a few things differently this week. For one, I used all Hammer Gels while fueling. I often times get a little cramping in my stomach, or indigestion from the fuels during the runs. I had no problems at all. This next weekend we are going to try HEED or Perpetuem to see how those drinks go. They are easy on the tummy. I used all water on this run. We are just trying to get some things narrowed down as we prep for this marathon.
One bad thing is we used 5 gels on Saturday...Yes, I said 5. We started with one and then fueled ever 45 min. after. I'm gonna have to buy stock in Hammer gels if I don't watch it! I know my local store is loving me right about now.
Overall though, it was a great run. I felt fantastic that evening and great yesterday. I was carb hungry yesterday, but I still ate good clean ones.
Arkansas is expecting bad weather! We live and work in different towns about 45 minutes from each other. The city we live in is listed under the sleet/ice area, but the city I work in isn't. So, this morning the husband and I gathered up a suitcase for a few days. We are going to stay with some friends for the next couple of days if need be.
I did pack my running shoes and clothes so I can maybe hit the streets/treadmill while I'm here. I must keep up my training as best I can.

This was Sunday morning before the race. We're fueling up with a good breakfast before the run. Corinne, Jane, Trish, Me, Becca and Paula (Maggie was also with us, but she wasn't in this picture)
I got these pictures from friends and also facebook so they vary in size. Here we are before the race began in the Hotel Lobby! Did I mention it was 70+ degrees during the race. Notice the shorts/skirts! Maggie, Paula, Brooke, Corinne, Becca, Trish, Jane, and Jessica
Me before the race began..honestly, I think this is us waiting in line at the bathrooms! We also had to wait about an hour for our corral to finally begin!
After the race....Corinne, Becca, Trish, Paula, Maggie, Jane and Jessica
Here we are before going out that night. Trish, Jessica, Brooke, Jane, Paula, Corinne, Becca and Maggie.
This is Becca and I....This was her first Half Marathon! Go Becca!
These are just a few of the pictures I have...I may post more later!
This weekend I'm doing 16 miles! Will post about that on Monday! Happy Weekend!

The race was great! It started at 8:00 but with the corral we were in and the wave start, it took forever to get going. I bet we didn't start until 9:15 or so. I slowed my pace down to a 13 min mile. This is the pace we are planning on running the marathon at. We figure if we slow it down we'll have more of a chance at finishing! We finished the half in 3:12 I believe.
It got rather crazy at several spots in the race. We constantly had people with us all along the route. Normally in the back corrals it is walkers so you weed out quickly. Not this race. We had people going with us the entire time. Makes me wonder if some people started in the wrong corral or something. Anyhow, we did fantastic. We only stopped 1 time to pee. That was good for us, seeing as in Memphis we stopped 5 or more! Fueling went great, run was fantastic, and afterwards, I was ready to crank out at least 5-7 more miles. For me this is great news. Honestly, I often worry that after I finish the half in LR, I'll be ready to stop. After this run on Sunday, I was ready to continue on for a while longer.
26.2 miles is definitely doable!
I didn't take a camera to Phoenix, but several of the others did. Once they post those, I'll follow up with some good shots from the trip.
I forgot to mention also...the weather was warm...75 degrees or more! That's a change from my normal 40 ish temps in Arkansas!
Overall, my 5th half was awesome. Loved every minute of it!
We are quickly approaching the full. We are down to less than 8 weeks. I was figuring out this morning that my long runs are getting long, but soon, we'll start tapering down. I'm really excited to be running this race. I'm running with at least two of my friends the ENTIRE run, and then a few are going to run the relay with us also. Each time the relay picks up, we get a new running partner! Our last legs we will have our friend Jane! I call her the endurance QUEEN because she is so knowledgeable in the field of endurance and training and fueling! I'll post a picture of us on my blog once I get the pics up. She ran Phoenix also!
I must get going...BBL to post some pictures!

I fly out in the morning and return on Monday. I'm looking forward to another good run.
I should be back to regular posting on Tuesday!

My schedule is booked solid this week.
Last night I did a short run when i got home, showered, cooked dinner and played rock back with my nephews. Tonight I just have a run planned. Tomorrow night I have sushi out with my sister and husband and then (sort of big news)....My husband and I are meeting with a Realtor. We have found a house that peeked our interest. It is an older home in a well established neighborhood. Oh, and in a good school district for future kiddos. So, Wednesday we are going to look at the house and see what we think. We are also meeting to discuss our current home. See what they are going for, competition, etc.
Then Thursday I have the work function I mentioned. We are entertaining close to 200 people in this tiny restaurant. Help us!
Friday I'm working, but maybe only half day. I'll work my fair share this week trust me.
Saturday I leave for Phoenix and Sunday I run my 5th half marathon!
Wow, I'm exhausted typing all that!
My food is going good. I'm eating around 1700 cals and so far I haven' t been hungry. I'm eating smaller meals 6 times a day at 200-300 each. So far it is working. I was down 2 lbs last week and I'm shooting for 1 lb this week. With travelling and my crazy work schedule who even knows.
B2-1 whole wheat tortilla, 1 egg, 1 egg white, spinach, onions and 1 turkey sausage patty (yum)
S-1 cheese stick, 1 oz. pretzels
L-Veggie soup, 1 wheat roll
S-1 whole wheat pita, hummus, smear of avocado, loaded with veggies (Awesome)
D-1 taco on whole wheat tortilla, side of rice
I'm off to work on my 6 deadlines one of which is ready! Woot! Only 5 to go!

This week I've been dealing with tons of stress so last night when I went out for a run, I just let it all go. Last night we did 12 miles. It was our long run this week. WOW, did it ever feel good to let it all go. Seriously, that run was awesome. I felt like I was a roadrunner. I was just cruising along with no problems.
This weekend I'll do a couple of short runs, and call it a week. Next week I'll taper down a little in prep for next weekend. I am going to Phoenix to run the P.F. Changs Rock-n-Roll Half. I'm meeting some of my PNP friends. I fly out next Saturday morning and arrive home on Monday afternoon. Short trip, but loads of fun. The run is actually Sunday morning.
I know this is short and sweet, but I gotta run!
Update on my eating and exercise: Going Great! I am weighing in on Fridays so I weighed this morning. I was down 2 lbs.....
Wednesday, January 7, 2009
I haven't decided if I am running tonight or not. I may take a DOR or I may go. I will make that decision tonight. If I go, we are doing 5 miles and I may join the running group again. It does make the runs go by faster.
My food is still going great. I am also getting in my water. Things couldn't be any better when it comes to exercise and food this week. ROCK ON!
I love New Years....I just hope I can keep this momentum going.
Off to make some hot tea!

I also did an awesome Marathon full body strength training workout last night. It was great. It was full of ab work, some leg work, and a few upper body things. It worked great for me. I don't want to do too much leg stuff only because my legs are taking a HUGE beating with all the running. Running long distances alone is hard and when you add in ST, it can be tough. I was proud to say I got a great workout in last night.
On Saturday's 16 miler my back was a little sore when we finished. I know this is because I need to strengthen my core area. So, last night during my workout we had active rests after each superset. Those active rests were all abs baby! Planks, crunches, etc. I did them all and honestly, I am so proud of myself. That was the first ST routine I've done in a while. I've been doing a little lifting/ab work but not a FULL BLOWN OUT ROUTINE.
Like I said, yesterday = Success for me!
My goals today are a 4 mile run, no bites, licks or tastes of anything not on the plan, and also 200 oz of water.
Yesterday I got in about 160 and today I'd like to shoot closer to 200.
Last week Kelly posted about her dad doing a daily devotional website. I checked it out and have been reading each morning. It is so refreshing! Please check it out. I feel like it gets my day going in the right way. I even put his page as my homepage so I wouldn't forget to look at it daily! Also, Kelly is getting ready to have a baby any day now!!!!
Kelly is from Arkansas also.... Not too mention a HUGE hog fan! GO HOGS! We play TX tonight...our biggest RIVAL! I hope we can stay with them! We were able to hold steady with Oklahoma.....Come on Hogs!
Off to get some work accomplished. I meet with my Marketing Advisor today! UGH!

I weighed and it wasn't pretty. I am somewhat discourged, but I'm the only one that can change that number. It is up to me.
Here is my good plan for today:
B1: Banana (ate this before leaving the house at 6:00 am)
B2: 2 cups of whole grain cereal, 1 cup skim milk
S: Harvest Power Bar
L: 1 1/2 cups tomato soup, 1 slice of low fat cheese on 1 slice of whole wheat bread
S: 3/4 cup of FF yogurt, 1 tbsp of wheat germ, 1/2 cup blueberries
D: 1/2 cup whole wheat pasta, 1/2 cup of marinara sauce, 1 cup broccoli
S: Protein Shake after ST
S2:94% FF popcorn
This puts me at around 1750 cals for the day. Today's exercise plan is Strength training and also a short 3 mile run.
This weekend was my 16 miler and it went fantastic. The only down fall was it was 70 degrees here. HOT in comparison to my normal 45-50 degree runs. I got slightly dehydrated I think, so I spent Saturday night trying to down the water and work on my headache. Otherwise the run was great. Looking forward to finishing out these 9 weeks of training.
I am also cutting out my weekly cheat again. I honestly think that I mess with myself when I have them. So, from here on out, I am not doing a cheat for the next 9 weeks.
I am excited about my plan. I really want to stay this motivated for the next 9 weeks.
We started a new challenge over at Phit and Phat today, and I really want to win! I took my pictures and stats this weekend so I'm ready.

I am just in awe of how time has flown by this year. I wanted to start my blog this morning reflecting on my accomplishments from 2008. I had to search high and low for my PNP journal last year, but I found it.
As 2008 began, I was finishing out the Slim New You Challenge. I was feeling hot and sexy because my 8's were loose and my scale was smiling back at me. My stats were awesome and I was down about 16 inches all over. I had only been with Corinne for about 6 months when January hit last year. I had just finished my first endurance challenge (Las Vegas Half) and I thought I was hot stuff.
I didn't win that one challenge, but I felt awesome for finishing it. Not many of us did.
2008 brought some huge accomplishments for me:
3 Half Marathons
Size 4's! Yes, I got in a size 4!
My weight though was a disappointment for me. I busted tail working out and eating right. I just couldn't seem to find the click though. I am so embarrassed to say what my weight is now, seeing as this time last year it was much lower. This weekend though, I will measure, take pictures, and weigh myself. I plan on working hard...I am shifting things around a little and I hope it helps with the scale. It will mean serious commitment, but I am so ready!
I found the best challenge of 2008, for me though was Fast and Furious! I never missed one workout during that 8 week challenge. I busted tail and it paid off! I dropped inches hence the size 4's! Our team (Sexy Six) won that challenge! WOOT!
When I started my new journal last year, these were my goals/goal events I was working towards:
March: Marathon Relay with Dawn, Mary, and Lorie (6 miles each)-HAD A BLAST!
April:Hog Eye 1/2 Marathon: BUSTED MY TAIL ON ONE OF THE HARDEST COURSES! TONS OF HILLS!
April:Nashville 1/2 Marathon: RAN MY BEST TIME: 2:11:00 and SUFFERED FOR IT!
May 10: 30th Birthday (DH and I will probably go away for the weekend or something) STEPPED INTO A NEW ERA! FEELING MUCH BETTER THAN I DID WHEN I ENTERED MY 20's..NOT TOO MENTION ABOUT 40 LBS LIGHTER!
July:Trip to the Beach: I DIDN'T WEAR MY BIKINI, BUT I DID FEEL LIKE A MILLION BUCKS ON THAT TRIP!
December: Began Full Marathon training
December: Completed 4th Half Marathon with some of my PNP friends
I am back though, it is time to finish out my marathon training and move on. So what if I've gained 10 lbs this year. I am training for a FULL MARATHON! I'm accomplishing something that many have never done before. Am I discouraged? Slightly, but I'll get that weight off. It may not come off until after March 15, but it will come off!
So, as we embark on 2009, I hope to accomplish even more this year:
1. Run my first Marathon! March 15,2009
2. Train for a Sprint Tri
3. Maybe a few halfs in the mix
4. Start back 3-4 day lifting once March is over
5. Drop some inches
6. Get back in those 4's
7. See if I can't get back in the lower 150's!
8. Finally, the biggest of all...Start a family!
So, to 2008, while I didn't finish out the year on a high note, I did accomplish some amazing things! Things I would of NEVER done if I hadn't been apart of PNP!
This weekend is our 16 miler! Wish us luck!
