Needs some help....

I am torn between which photos I want to select for our Christmas Card this year. Help me! We normally do one in Razorback stuff. Sort of our tradition. What do you think? I am only giving you three options because I need to narrow this down.

Photo #3: Not sure, I think it looks hazy!

Productive Saturday!

I have both of my trees up! WOOT! They look good. I feel like I just threw them up though. I do a Razorback Tree and then also a traditional tree. I love the color orange, so every year my big tree favors that color. I love it!
Here is the hog tree:

Speaking of hogs...we played great and beat LSU......
It rained though! Here are a few pictures from the game yesterday! It was also COLD. I have so many layers on it isn't funny.

Here I am in my rain suit. We bought those 4 years ago and they finally came in handy!

And of course, after the victory! Here we are!

Thanksgiving was great....I got up that morning and ran with the running group. We did 4 miles. I wore my new running pants I posted. They worked great. It was about 40 degrees and I was fine. In fact, I was so hot when I finished. I did wear a hat and a long sleeve pull over top, but still, I was hot when finished. It was a great run! We went to the inlaws and had a nice time.

At home today...

I'm at home today. I had a project due, but we finished up yesterday so I opted for a day off. Everyone else wasn't going to work, so I decided I wouldn't either.

I slept until 8, which is good for me and now I'm about to head out for some cardio this morning. I would love to enjoy the night at home and seeing as I am at home today, why not get it done. Julie and I are meeting in about 20 minutes for a short run and some cardio. It is 40 degrees outside though..I might freeze my tooshy off!

I am going today to Target to look for some running pants. I need some. I'm seriously thinking about getting these. They are called running tights. Anyone use these?

So, the cake...I know you are all dying to know. It was good, but I wouldn't characterize it in that other category. I am making it to bring to my MIL's also seeing as I have all the ingredients.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving Blog Friends! Don't forget to remember all the things you are thankful for. I know even though it is that time of year I neglect to remember how thankful I really am.

Off to do some cardio....Happy Thanksgiving!

What should I have....

Today is the Thanksgiving work function. I'm sure we'll have loads of crap..we always do! I made the Better Than Sex Cake and it is ready for eating. I will post the recipe:

Ingredients:
1 (18.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare
1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple
1 1/3
cups sugar
1 (3.4-ounce) box French vanilla pudding, plus ingredients to prepare
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 cup flaked, sweetened toasted coconut
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Prepare yellow cake mix as directed using a greased 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. While cake is baking, combine the pineapple and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium heat stirring constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Remove cake from oven and using a fork, pierce holes into cake. Pour pineapple mixture over hot cake and set aside.
Prepare pudding according to package directions. Spread pudding over cake and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled. Whip heavy cream and remaining sugar until stiff. Cover top of cake with whipped cream and sprinkle toasted coconut on top.

So, that is it. I'll let you know my review of it tomorrow. I'm planning on having that be my one small indulgance at the party today.

Last night was a 6 mile run,and it went great. My conflict tonight got changed, so I'm going to hit the streets tonight with the running group. We are doing 4 miles tonight!

I know this is short and sweet, but I gotta get some work accomplished.

Plans for Thanksgiving Week

This is my exercise plan for the week:
Monday: 6 mile run
Tuesday: off
Wednesday: 3-4 mile run
Thursday: 3-4 mile run before we leave for inlaws, short walk after lunch
Friday: Off
Saturday: ST
Sunday: 3-4 mile run

I am beginning my 4 day a week running schedule this week in prep for the marathon training. I am following this schedule after my half is over on December 6. For now I am tapering back in preparation for the half marathon in a few weeks. I'll pick back up after it is over and continue on with the long run schedule.

I am really ready to have a good Thanksgiving week. I have my schedule all lined out and it is very doable. I also have a plan for all the Thanksgiving dinners I'll attend. I have 3 this year. My favorite will be my mom's so I'll save up and have most of my indulgences then. I may have small treats at the others, but I want to save up as much as I can for my moms.

Tomorrow is our work party. I am making this cake called "Better than Sex Cake". I have heard of it before and I ran across it in the newspaper. I decided I would make it for the work luncheon. It is basically a coconut cake with pineapple in it. Will see how it turns out. I doubt it is better than sex, but Paula Dean gave it a big review. I'll keep you posted. I actually made it last night because it says to let it sit overnight for a few days. Again, I'll let you know what I think after tomorrow.

MS State was a disappointment. We lost at the very end. Oh well, we always have next year. We have one more game this year. We are taking on LSU on Friday. We will go, but I think they are calling for rain! YUCK!

This weekend I'll be decorating the house for Christmas. I do 2 trees. One will be our normal tree, and then we also do an Arkansas Razorback Tree. Will post pictures of it after I get it all set up.

I also need to begin working on my Christmas Cards. I think the husband and I finally got a good photo of us, so we'll use that for our cards. I need to get going on them though!

8 miles and no sickness

After last weeks run, I was nervous about running long distance. Last year I trained for 3 half marathons with no problems at all. This year, well, thats a different story.

I did good last night though. Before I left the house I had a PB/SF jelly sand on whole wheat bread. I then fueled at mile 4 and then drank a Gatorade afterwards. I didn't get sick! Yippie Skippy! I am thinking that part of my problem these last few weeks may be salt. I need more of it. I try to minimize salt due to water retention, but I'm afraid when running,I need it.

On Sunday night I did a cheat meal of Mexican..oh so yummy! Then I ran on Monday with no problems at all. Really good run! I'm wondering if the extra fat and sodium from all those chips/cheese dip/salsa helped? I'm going to try and continue to eat more salt. I'm not interested in salt tablets.....

So, that being said...my run was FANTASTIC!

This weekend we are heading to Starkville, MS. Where is that you say? Middle of no where in MS. Here is Me, the husband and Brandon 2 years ago. This game was special. We clinched the SEC West during that game.....This year...we are just trying to actually WIN a game! My how things change! I also have to post another picture....this is Brandon and I. Same game. Before the game 2 years ago, we went to lunch at Ruby Tuesdays. Next door was a Holiday Inn Express. They had a sign that said GO DAWGS, BEAT THE HOGS...So, what did Brandon and I do? We changed it up! Man oh man, did we get some serious looks from MS State fans inside the restaurant!
Have a great weekend.....

Over 10,000

So, I checked my visitor count the other day. I've had over 10,000 people visit my site since earlier this year when I began the blog. I didn't turn the counter on though until I about 2 months in, so since May or so I've had 10,000 hits on this blog.

I can't decide if I'm getting sick or what. I just haven' t been feeling myself lately. Last night I did another short run. Just 3 miles and afterwards I came home to Skillet Lasagna (which is really good) and after I ate, I had serious indigestion. YUCK! I felt like poo.

Last night I went searching for one of those blinking lights you wear at night. Now that the time has changed I'll need to wear it when running at night. I searched several places. I found one at target, but it was $12.00 and I hear you can find them cheaper at other places. I decided to wait. Today I am going to run over at lunch and look. I also want to run to Walgreens. They have Christmas Candy on sale. I am trying to buy now, so I can save.

I still haven't logged my food in sparks. I just haven't felt like it. I know so lazy! I am eating good though. Sticking to my plan. I have cooked twice this week. RECORD. I haven't cooked twice in one week in months. Both healthy recipes might I add.

Tonight we are doing 8 miles. In my marathon schedule I should be doing 12, but with my half in a few weeks I want to save my legs for race day. After the half is over I'll start back up with the correct mileage each week.

I joined a local running group so know I'll have more people to run with. They basically run everyday. I guess now I don't have any excuse not to run. Julie is running with me also, so that helps.

Thanks again for visiting my site.......

Running Club=A+

Last night I met Brandi and ran with the running club in town. I loved it.
I feel like I've been slacking lately on my running. Not getting in those short runs etc. So, after my no commitment on Tuesdays, I decided this week I was going. We met at 6 and we did 4 miles. It went really good. I felt great...No throwing up by the way....

I fueled with some whole wheat toast and sugar free jelly before I went, then about an hour after, I ate dinner. It was perfect.

I have decided I need to run with this group at least 2 times a week. Maybe even more depending on my schedule. They meet often, which is good.

I got a clean report at the dentist. Yeah for that. So did the husband! Although he has been putting off a root canal, so he will do that after the first of the year. OUCH!

I need to log some food in sparks. I will be back later to post those.

I have two meetings this morning! What joy.

Got the Blahs.....

Ever have one of those days when you just feel blah? I mean I woke up this morning did my hair, didn't like it. Got dressed, wasn't loving what I selected. Then I get in the car and realize I've spilt something on my jacket. UGH. Just one of those mornings.

This afternoon I have a dentist appointment. This is my cleaning appointment. I sure hope I get a good report. Last year I had to have several fillings filled and my wisdom teeth out. It was a rough year on my mouth. I hope I get good news today.

As of yesterday I am no longer employed with Weight Watchers. I felt like it was time for a break. So, as of today, I am free on Tuesday nights. To be honest, I am almost relieved. Every Tuesday night a local running club meets. Every Tuesday I couldn't go until now! They are meeting at 6 tonight. If I can get home after my dentist appointment and get supper cooked I may just go.

I have so much going on at work. I have to get out the Christmas party invitations for the employee Christmas party TODAY....No kidding. The party is in less than 3 weeks. EEK! I also have client gifts to work on, cards to attach to each gift (250), etc. I'm super busy right now.

My food is going pretty good also. I am totally not getting in that 2 gallons of water. I'm lucky to of gotten in 64 ounces the last few days. I'm going to try and do better today.

I better get busy!

Mondays are the pits

Welcome to Monday! YUCK! Weekends fly by and work weeks just go on forever.

We had a great weekend. We stayed at home...YEAH. Wow, I love weekends at home. Friday night the husband had a playoff game in Ft. Smith, so I stayed at home. Caught up on some DVR stories and just chilled. I went to dinner at my moms. She had made this wonderful salmon dish with spinach on the side. WOW, in fact, she sent home leftovers and I'm having it for lunch today. Then on Saturday the husband and I slept in. I LOVE sleeping in. It was only till 8:30, but at least I got that in. I did the grocery thing on Saturday morning and the rest of the day we just hung out. The husband watched the Office on DVD and I just bummed around.

Saturday night we went to some friends for games and dinner. We played Balderdash. I had never played that before. We had fun.

Sunday we just again were lazy, however we did go out and play with the nephews. We played football outside. The weather was wonderful. Just a little chilly, but perfect. The husband was all time quarterback and I was all time defense. We played for about 2 hours.

Overall, my weekend was awesome. I did enjoy a good mexican dinner last night of chips and dip, I ate too much though!

Back to logging in sparks though. I took the weekend off, however I did still eat good and clean.

I'll post my food menu from today tomorrow!

Weird ending to my run last night...

Good Morning!

Friday.......I LOVE Fridays!

I am at home this weekend. All weekend in fact. I'm not sure what all I will do.

I have two nephews having birthdays in the next week so I'll need to buy some presents. I know that is top priority because the birthday celebration is Sunday at my parents house.

Last night was my 10 mile run. I felt really good last night. I mean really good. At about mile 9, I asked the girls if they wanted to do 13? They said "uh no", I wasn't really serious, but I love the fact that when I finish, I still think I can go a little more.

Last night I tried MIX1. I'm not really sure I'm a fan. My run went super. I only fueled once...BIG MISTAKE. Then I let Julie have some of my sport beans...Probably another big mistake. I drank water the entire run, but I'm thinking I didn't fuel enough. So when I got to my car I drank the MIX1 stuff. It was Vanilla blueberry and it tasted like watered down yogurt. NOT SO GREAT! I felt great, then I hit a wall. I got home and was trying to make some dinner. I was going to do whole wheat pasta with a little spaghetti sauce. No big deal. All of a sudden I was shaking and next thing I knew, it was all coming up! I felt so much better afterwards, but I'm not sure what the problem was. Was it the MIX1? Not enough fuel? I swear my body is constantly making me second guess myself.

I choked down some plain noodles after that happened and went to bed. I woke up at 1:00 am STARVING..So I opted for about 10 crackers. I then didn't fall back asleep until 2. This will make for a fun long day!

Today I'm traveling with work to a seminar on Grant Writing. Should be loads of fun when your tired.

Brandi did meet us last night. It was so good meeting her. Looks like we'll be running together every so often. Especially on those long runs!

I haven't logged my food into sparks yet...I will later and post them another time.

Big evening planned

Tonight I'm doing a 10 mile run. In fact, Brandi might run with me. She and live in the same town. Small world I know. She is doing the same running schedule as I am, so I told her I was planning on going tonight and I think she is going to join me. I may bring my camera for a snap shot if I can remember.
My friend Julie will also be with me. Long runs are so much better when you have someone with you!
They also have a running group in my area. Brandi runs with them sometimes. After football season is over I'll probably try and go a few times.

My food is still going good. I am eating really clean foods and carbing up for tonight. Here is my food plan from yesterday.

Last night the husband and I went out for a treat..TCBY=$1.25 waffle cones. So, we both had one. It was yummy. I hadn't treated myself to one in weeks, so I did last night. It was yummy.
At lunch today I'm running over to Target to get some sports beans. Did you know they carry those? I didn't either until recently. I am going to pick up a couple of packets.

If you are wondering, my water drinking is still going, however I haven't been getting in the 250 oz. More like 210-225.

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but I am a big Biggest Loser watcher....I am disgusted by the blue team......Except for Amy! You go girl standing up like that. I just hope she doesn't let Vicky railroad her next week!

Good Wednesday....

So today is Wednesday and I am feeling great. I am eating super healthy and very clean foods. I'm drinking tons of water and peeing like crazy, but that is another story for another day.

I am going to post some of my spark pages. For those of you not familiar, Sparkpeople will let you log your food in for free. VERY HELPFUL! I've been doing it off and on for a year, but right now I am on. I am logging everything. I am also increasing my cals from 1500-1700 to 1800-2100. I am needing to begin the fuel process. I want to be healthy and I want energy for these runs I am soon to embark on.

I am running a 10 miler tomorrow night. That means today I need to start carbing up in preparation for tomorrow.

Here is my food from yesterday

I need to start posting my food more often. That will help me stay accountable while I'm training.

We also started working on our training schedule some more. For the next few weeks I'll be getting ready for my half marathon, so I will sort of change the schedule slightly, but then after the half is over I'm back in full force with marathon training. See for the last 3 months I've been working towards the half, I need to start transitioning to the full now. I am going to run 4 days a week vs. my 3 days I am doing now. After my half in December I'll start the 4 days a week running.

I will post my schedule up soon, so you can see what I'm doing.

This week I am doing 3, 3, 10.

Back to the grind

We had a good time in South Carolina. The drive was long and we lost. :(

I had an awesome eating weekend. I ate from my cooler and every dinner I had something healthy. I didn't really do a big cheat, instead a did a few small ones, such as bread at dinner, full fat dressing, etc. I thought I did excellent.

My only problem was not enough water. I'm still shooting for 2 gallons a day. Friday I got in about 80 and Saturday I got in 100. Sunday was better at 120 and then yesterday I was back at 200. I'm still not at 250 oz. though.
Here is one picture of me at the game trying to drink my water:

Our seats were so close to the field that it sucked. We had a hard time seeing anything.

You can't see this, but up on the screen is Michael Phelps...he was at the game.

On the way home, we stopped by the husbands favorite BBQ place for a sandwich. It was yummy as always.

Yesterday I spent the day relaxing, sleeping in, grocery shopping, cooking and enjoying myself. I love days off. It was wonderful.

I did some food prep yesterday, so I'm ready for a great food week!

I need to jet, I have tons of work to do.

What a day!

I can officially check off my 11 mile run for the week. I had a great run tonight. Last week's 10 miler was rough. I mean hard and afterwards I felt crummy. I know it was from proper fueling of my body. This week I've been working with Trish over at PhitNutrition. She's been helping me with working on food and timing. The last two days I've been upping my carbs in prep for tonight's run. Honestly, it worked, because I feel like a million bucks tonight.

One thing I've realized is it's time for new shoes. I am rubbing blisters still on two spots on my toes. I am faithfully using my Vaseline, but I think the issues isn't that, it is just time for a new pair.
I am also going to look into second skin. Someone told me about it last year. I think I'll look at my running store in the next few weeks when I got get a new pair of Brooks. That is my running shoe of choice. Been running in Brooks for over a year now. Haven't had any trouble yet.

I also fueled during my run twice. In fact, I used hammer gels once and then sports beans the next. I tell ya, it was a fantastic run!
I am heading out to South Carolina tomorrow for the hog game. We are taking on Steve Spurrier :(. Hopefully we are still on a high from last weeks game.

I need to go pack up some food for the weekend and get myself packed!

Wednesday Already!

Wednesday afternoon is already here....I can't believe it. I'm just now getting around to getting a blog in.

Someone commented yesterday on some of the acronyms I used. Sorry, I forget that some of you don't know what those mean.
Here is a quick run down:
MB=Metabolic Boost (Cheat) 1 meal lasting 1 hour anything I want
BLT=Bites, Licks, and Tastes (Anything not accounted for such as licking of the spoon or one bite of the husbands leftovers etc. )
ST=Strength Training

Last night I was going to ST, but by the time I got home from Weight Watchers and settled in, it was 9:00 and I was dog tired. My plan is to do it tonight though. I will also do my 12 mile long run tomorrow.

I am going out of town remember this weekend, so I need to get my long run in, and I also need to start incorporating at least some ST. So I have those on my agendas for tonight and tomorrow.

I am trying to make a goal of drinking 2 gallons of water a day. That is 250+ ounces of water. YIKES. Yesterday I hit about 176, and today I'm currently at 116 oz.

Tonight me,my sister, BIL and the husband are going for Sushi. We don't go all that often, but we've been craving it lately. My sister told us about this great place back a few months ago. The husband took me for my birthday and we loved it. So tonight we are all going for some SUSHI time! I will need to watch it though. I don't want to overdo it. I will need to make sure I order the right thing.

November Challenge at PNP

For those of you new to my blog. I belong to an online workout community-Phit and Phat.
I have been a member for over a year. Each month we do small challenges. I normally participate in those each time. Such as No Halloween Candy last month etc.

Well this month we are doing a Thanksgiving Challenge. Here are the rules:

To earn that T-Day of free eating you must do the following:
1. Give up ONE MB this month. Doesn't matter which weekend. You will pick it but you will pick this week when you sign up for the challenge. If you need to change because of scheduling that's fine. BUT, IF YOU CHANGE IT BECAUSE YOU HAD A WEAK MOMENT YOU LOSE ONE MEAL ON T-DAY.

2. No BLT's until T-Day. That's right. NONE!!!! If you have a BLT you will count five. That means for every BLT this month you take on T-day morning you will wake up early enough to do all the accumulated minutes in EXERCISE! I will let ya'll vote on the most brutal full body workout circuit we have and that is the routine you will do until your TIME IS SERVED!

3. Weekends have to be planned and stuck to between now and then. Each weekend you don't follow plan is a meal you lose on T-Day. We have three to deal with: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. If you are like me you either go to several meals that day or you do special thing for each meal part. Who wants to miss out on that big breakfast T-day morning? NOT ME! So, starting this week you have three chances at your three meals.

4. Candy is covered in BLT's. :)

Here is a break down:

  • Total free day of eating on T-day for sticking to plan and giving up one MB between now and then.
  • LOSE ONE MEAL FOR: unplanned MB, going off YOUR plan on the weekend
  • PENALTY BODY CIRCUIT: 5 mins. tallied per indiscretion between now and T-day to be served EARLY on T-day morning.

So, basically, I want the all I want Thanksgiving Day experience.....

I did my civic duty...

and voted! The polls opened at 7:30, but the husband and I went early so we could get in and get out quickly. We stood in line for about 45 minutes before the polls opened, and then another 15 to vote. So, only about an hours wait. I am glad to have that over.

Last night i did my 3 mile run and it went good. I had a slow start, but once I got moving it went great. Tonight I have some ST planned. With Biggest Loser not being on due to election coverage I will work out instead.
Sorry this is short..will post more later.

Hogs Win...Hogs Win!

The Hogs WON! WOOHOO! We beat Tulsa!

So exciting...We finally won another game. This has been a very slow season for us. I am so excited we won.

I didn't take many pictures this weekend. I just forgot at our tailgate. We just set up a few chairs and then ate Chick-Fil-A, so it wasn't much of a tailgate thats for sure.
I did get a new shirt for the game. I found it on Friday. It is grey with a red hog on it. I may wear it to this weekends game. Here I am in it:

It is hard to see, but so cute! That is me cheezing it up for a picture.

Here is one I took as I walked across campus.....the trees were gorgeous!

So, we had a fabulous win with a fabulous victory. On Saturday night I treated myself to a Metabolic Boost and life was just grand. I had pizza in case you were wondering.

This is a short week for me. I am heading to South Carolina on Friday for the next game, so I am only working 4 days this week.

Tomorrow is the election. The husband and I will cast our vote in the morning. I'm not sure how that race will turn out.

Tonight I plan on getting in a short run. I must start getting better about doing them. They are a must in my training, so I have that on the agenda.
