Final Day of Hog Pictures!

Have a wonderful Holiday! See everyone Tuesday!

After the best game of the year! Arkansas and LSU!

GO HOGS!

Terrific Thursday

Just a few more days until the big game. I'm ready! I have some shopping to take care of tomorrow, but other than that, we are ready for some HOG Football!

This year the Razorbacks are getting a GIANT Hog painted on our field. We are so excited. The stencil is down, but that is all. I was hoping to find a picture of it, but no such luck. Not yet at least. I found one of the stencil, but it isn't all that great, so I'll post one on Monday of the completed hog.

More hog pictures from last year:

I am off tomorrow, so I'll post more pictures this afternoon!

Have a great LONG weekend!

WOO HOO for Wednesday!

Hump Day and only 3 more days till the weekend!

Food and exercise are still going strong. I'm still on my streak of staying on track in August. I have accomplished 26 days worth.

Tonight I'll run again. I'm going to do a 5 miler I think. I feel like I haven't been getting in my longer runs like I should, so I did 4 miles on Monday, then I'll do 5 miles tonight. Then Friday I'll just do a 3 miler. This should get me back on a decent schedule. Next week I'll be back to 3, 3, 6 and then I'll progress each week on the longer runs! I need to find my schedule and make sure I'm still on target!

More Hog Pictures:
This would be the husband doing what he does best- Talking or texting on his phone!

Dawn and I before the Auburn game. She and I ran a 10K the morning before the game. It was the first 10K that either of us had done.

Brandon and I at the Ole Miss Game!

More fun times!

Happy Wednesday!

4 Days and Counting.....

4 Days! WOOT!

Yesterday I convinced the husband that we needed a 4 day weekend, so we are taking off on Friday! Even better! I love short weeks.

More pictures from last years games:

KY Game!

Me enjoying the sunshine! Look how dark my hair is...WOW, I've done some changing since last year.

Me, Jeremy and Dawn at the North Texas Game!

Okay, that is all the picture sharing for today!

Food was excellent yesterday and so was my 4 mile run! Woot!

5 days and counting!

This week my blog will be taking a little different look. In fact, just plan on it taking a different look from now until December. I'll still post weight related stuff, but you'll see lots of HOG FOOTBALL action!

This week I'm going to post a few pictures from some of the games last year.

First off, our new coach: Bobby Petrino-This would be him calling those HOGS! WOO Pig Sooie!

Few highlights from some of the games:

Brandon-Hog Traveling Friend and Olivia- daughter of some friends of ours

The husband rooting on Brandon as he shot guns a beer! This was at the Alabama game!

The three of us: Me, husband and Brandon at the Alabama Game!

That is enough for today! I'll continue sharing more through out the week. Our weekend was good. We went to inlaws on Saturday and then stayed around the house yesterday.

This is a big week for us! So excited! Can't wait!

Scale won't budge....

On July 28, I started really watching my food and exercising. I have since lost about 6 lbs, but for the last 2 weeks NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH! I have weighed the exact same for literally the last week or so. I can't seem to shake these few lbs. In fact, I'm still up about 3-4 lbs from my normal weight of 150 lbs. Frustration is about to set in. I am literally busting tale. Eating is spot on, and exercise is beyond good. I'm lifting 2 days a week followed by running 2-3 days a week followed by a good power walk as well! I am also drinking at least 100 oz of water daily. I'm just not sure what my problem is. I am eating roughly 1500 cals a day. All clean foods might I add. I will tell you my stomach is NOT bloated and looks much smaller than it did 1 month ago, but the scale just has me staying the same! :(

Am I discouraged? Slightly, but I won't let it rule me. I'll just keep plugging along and see if maybe my body just needs a few weeks to adjust.

Weekend Plans:
Today: The husband has a trial, so I'm probably working a full day today. We commute together and so we don't want to waste gas, so we opted to drive in together. His trial is 2 hours away, so I'll probably work much longer today than I normally do on Fridays! Boo.....I was also here at 6:15 am this morning! That sucks! This afternoon we are headed out to find my MIL a gift. She is not easy to buy for. Wish us luck.

Saturday: Off to my inlaws for a birthday celebration. We are celebrating her birthday and my fathers also. We are having BBQ. My plan is to eat the meat only and some fruit. She always has tons of fruit from a local market, so that shouldn't screw me up. However, I'll drink plenty of water to off set the massive amounts of sodium I'll consume from the BBQ! Ugh!

Sunday: Food Prep! I have a few new recipes in the works this week. If they are worth sharing I'll do so. One is a flank steak and the other is a burger recipe. Surely they'll be good. So, Sunday I'll prep up my lunches for the week. On Sunday afternoon we are having a party at my sisters and each of us was asked to bring a side dish/appetizer. I am bringing that Pizza Dip recipe that I posted back around July 4th. It was a hit at our cookout, so I'm bringing that again. I am saving this meal as a MB. I know they will have tons of goodies, so I want to indulge a little without going overboard. I haven't had a full blown out cheat for almost a month! Maybe another reason my scale is all goofy. Will see!

I do need to run one more time over the next 3 days. Not sure which day I'll do it, but that is a definite plan on my agenda!

Yesterday I was called in to the VP's office. Yikes, I was slightly frightened about what that was all about but it turned out good.
I asked during my last review for more advancement, more responsibility hoping that would in turn lead to more $$$. (Been with the company 3 years and ready for a few changes)
Yesterday I was asked to take on more of the marketing in our office. I am currently the Marketing Coordinator/Public Relations person so that just means I will get to start meeting with our companies Marketing Consultant that we use. You are probably wondering why I haven't been doing this already? Who knows, I wondered that myself for the last 3 years.
I told the VP that I would be more than happy to meet with him, but that I had asked for more of an advancement and that I hoped this would be it. Or at least a transition. He agreed and told me that he thought this would be a great step. We shall see. I'm not holding my breath or anything.

Happy Weekend!

20 Days and Going Strong..

I keep forgetting to mention my Staying on Track Challenge. I am currently 20 days in and going strong.

I was told yesterday by one of my male readers (friend of mine and the husbands) that my blog had gotten boring! So, I'll try and be more interesting.

Football season is approaching. On the way to work this morning the husband and I talked about what all we need for the season clothing wise. Every year we both buy shirts galore. Well, me more than him, but that is beside the point. This year though we both are opting to wear what we got. Although I am looking for a certain tank top, but that is all. Our first game is next Saturday. Next week I'll start sharing pictures from some of last years games.

Last night I fell asleep at 8:00. As my husband said it wasn't even dark outside yet. I am just worn down. I feel really good today though.

I am also excited...I found these:

I found them at Walgreens for $5.99! I'll have to try them this weekend. These are similar to my Avon ones, so we shall see. After I use them I'll give you an update.

Food for today:
Spark Page
B: 4 egg whites, 1 cup spinach, 1 grapefruit
S: Protein Shake, Oatmeal
L: 2 cups spinach salad, Chicken, sprinkle of 2% cheese, tomato, balsamic vin dressing
S: 1 rice cake with 1 tbsp. PB, peach
D: 2 cups squash topped with homemade spaghetti meat sauce (low sugar)

Back to Sparks

I started logging in SparkPeople again. I figured I needed to watch my fat, carbs and protein a little more carefully.
My trainer has been looking over my menu and says it looks good. I am eating around 1500 cals a day. Hopefully that will help me shed some of this remaining amount of fat.

Here is my sparks page.

If you can't view that, here is a run down of my food for today:

S: Oatmeal, Protein Shake
L: Tilapia, side of broc.

A+ Weekend!

We had a great trip to Nashville. The competition was awesome. It is amazing all that goes into preparing for such a thing. All three of the competitors did great and looked awesome.

If anything, I want to work hard and see if I can't strive for a little pop in my shoulders or maybe even some nice cut arms. I don't see competing in my future, but I would love to look even half as good as some of those gals did.

We had a blast though, we were on the go from Friday AM until Saturday PM. Saturday we headed out for fun at a local bar in Nashville called McFaddens. It was a blast. We danced and had a grand time.

I did awesome with my eating. I ate accordingly and drank my water. I packed my cooler for the weekend and I pretty much stuck to it. We did eat out often, but I selected healthy options cooked dry or plain so I could keep it as clean as possible.

While in Nashville, I stayed with my trainer and she let me try a new protein powder. AWESOME. I'll be ordering this! So yummy! By far a fav. I was getting tired of my Matrix orange cream so this is a nice change. I'll be ordering this as soon as I can.

I also had a chance to discuss my food issues with my trainer. She gave me some great tips and suggestions, so that was good! Tonight I'll head to the grocery for food so I can prep up for the week.

WE got in last night around dinner time, so I ate dinner, unpacked and fell asleep at 7:30. I was TIRED!

I had a fantastic weekend!

WOOT!

Heading to Nashville....

I am heading to Nashville tomorrow for a competition. Three of my PNP friends are competing in a body building competition and we are going to cheer them on.

I am leaving in the morning and will not return until Sunday afternoon. It will be a crazy hectic weekend.

I'm a slight bit nervous because:

  • I haven't seen my trainer since April, and since then I've gained about 5 lbs. I don't think I look all that great and that ticks me off. It's my own fault, but I just wish I wouldn't of stopped running. I think it sort of caused a slight weight gain for me, plus vacation, plus a few eating experiences that I don't need to bring up, etc..etc....I just hope my favorite pair of jeans fits....I'm scared to try them on. UGH!

  • I am also slightly nervous because my A game is on and I don't want to ruin it. I'm eating pretty good and exercising. The food is what scares me the most. Tonight I will ST and tomorrow I will run before leaving. So technically my workouts are in. The food is what scares me. I am bring along my own food and snacks, but I've already been told we are going out to dinners/breakfast/the bar! I'm not a huge drinker so that won't cause too much damage, but I will want to indulge once. What do I select? I still don't know!

I Just want to go and have a good time.

Several months ago, my SIL gave me some of these Avon Instant Manicure strips. I tried them and LOVED them. Avon makes them, but have recently discontinued them. UGH! So, anyhow, I called her on Monday and asked her how I could get some. Ebay or something? I was going to ask her what she did etc. I had to leave her a message. She never called me back. Oh well, I got over it. Then yesterday I get home and she sent me 6 of them! 6! I was so excited. I immediately called her and thanked her over and over again. Again, had to leave message. Oh well! At least I tried! I am so excited though. I love them! They look great on my nails and they aren't fake or bad for them etc.
Anybody sale AVON and have a few laying around? SO tonight, I gotta do my nails! I'll try and take pictures.

Also, today is MIL's birthday. I'm not certain how old she is turning maybe 76 or so? She and FIL are slightly older than my parents. Here is MIL with my husband!

Sorry...best picture I had at work of her! This is she and the husband at his 32nd birthday, which was 2 years ago almost!
She makes the best birthday cakes and icing! YUM!

We are going down next weekend to celebrate her birthday and my dads. They live about an hour and a half from us.

Wish me luck this weekend...I need to pray those jeans fit! :)

Checkin them off....

  • Exercise-Check
I did a new routine. It was GIANT sets of different arm workouts. My trainer put it together for me to do twice weekly. I'll then run the other days. SO last night was my first ST workout. Let me tell you I was huffin and puffin during that one. I was workin it!
  • Food-Check
Food is still a battle for me. I am doing what I can, but I'm not doing all that great. I am working with Corinne's menus sort of picking and choosing healthy items, but like yesterday for instance I ate two protein bars. Not the wisest choice. Don't get me wrong, I am eating the food, but I feel like I may be eating too many carbs, etc.
Last night I worked a WW meeting, then exercised, showered, and then basically fell on the couch and died. I was exhausted. I turned on the Olympics and watched the Men's volleyball and then was fighting sleep. I turned in about 9:30. I watched a little of the swimming. Enough to see Phelps win another Gold medal. He won another one later on too. That guy is supper quick.

Tonight I have some things I need to do around the house. I also have a run on my agenda for this evening. I hope the weather is nice again. It has been wonderful here the last few days.

Today is my dad's birthday! He is 61 today! Ahh! Here is a picture of my dad and I:

This was us on this birthday last year. He has lost probably 30 more lbs since this picture was taken. This was the best picture I have of him.

Let me show you a before though:

He has lost a total of DRUM ROLL....100 lbs! Rock on Dad!

Happy Birthday!

Endurance Training, here I come!

Last night I started a new round of workouts that my trainer put together for us. It is basically three days running and 2 days upper body strength training.

I'm back in training mode. Last night I did a run! I ran 3 miles. Proud of that because the humidity was sticky and H-O-T. The temps outside were low 80's, but the humidity was insane. I was soaked when I finished the run.

I know I mentioned this before, but with all my half marathons (3) to be exact, I have used the Jeff Galloway method of 4:1. It works for me. I ran my best time of 2:12 using that method and I'm darn proud of it. I am tall so I make semi good strides, so that is in my favor also. As of now though, I'm just running for fun. I just want to enjoy it. I ran one of my halfs with friends and it was by far my most favorite of all and the best part was I wasn't even fatigued when I finished. It was awesome! I loved that race. It was the Hogeye by the way for those interested.

So last night I was back to my 4 minutes running, 1 min walking. It was a great run. I had to give myself a small pep talk on the last run just because I was exhausted from the heat. I did it though.

Food is going good also. I'm still on track for my 31 days in August. In fact, I am on day 12. I am close to halfway through this month. Unbelievable!

So all that being said, I'm back in running mode. My plan is to run the Memphis St. Jude Half Marathon on December 6. Then I'll gear up and begin my marathon training, that is if I'm still in good shape and no injuries.
The Little Rock Marathon is scheduled for: Sunday March 15
As of now, I'm planning on doing it with my friend Dawn!

So, I have two big things on the horizon! More details as my training continues!

Mondays what a drag

Ugh, Monday is here! Oh well, I had a good weekend. I slept more than I have in MONTHS. It was wonderful. I actually feel really well rested. I love it!

Thanks for all the comments on the hair. I have had this cut now for 4 or 5 years. It is by far the cut for me. I get compliments all the time on it, so it will be probably be around for the majority of my life.
I also love the blond streaks. If it were up to the husband I would be a blond. However my hair is entirely too dark to go complete blond, so these highlights will have to do. Plus blond would be way expensive.....I would have to go every 4 weeks or so. No thanks!

As for the Chi...I tried my hardest to bid one on Ebay, but they were going for more than I wanted to spend. I hope I'm not sorry, but I bought one that is made by CHI. It is hot pink and I found it on Amazon. It isn't a CHI, but it is made by them. I think it will work good. One day I'll spring for the real thing. I do agree with several of my commenter's. GO for the more expensive one..it will last longer and will be worth the extra $$. I think what I got will be perfect.
Will keep you posted. It is to arrive this week.

Last night we celebrated my dad's 61st birthday with steak. Oh my, it was so wonderful. It was beef tenderloin to be exact. It was melt in your mouth awesome. I highly enjoyed it.

This weekend we went to practice...our offense looks great, but our defense..well lets just say we hope our offense scores lots of points!

I have an interview today with work. Not for me a job, but for our company to get a job. It is at 11:45 so I need to go finish it up and make sure they are pleased with it. Plus let them go over it once. I work for engineers so it's monotone for 30 minutes...I'll be fighting to stay engaged I'm sure. BORING!

This weekend I'm heading to Nashville....more to follow on that!

Oh one last thing...I got to see Dawn and she is looking so good! She is doing so great with food and exercise and it is paying off with the results! So glad I got to visit with her for a few minutes.

Haircut, blog, weekend plans

I got my haircut/HL last night. It is cute. I had her do me one streak at the front of my hair that is thicker. I like it. Next time I may do another one farther back. We shall see.
Here are some pictures:

I am also wearing my favorite lip liner and gloss...Arbonne! It is Kola lip liner and Bare lip gloss! I love it. So neutral and perfect for me. I can darken it or lighten it, whichever I want. LOVE that.

I had her do me longer in the front and shorter in the back this time. Pretty much my usual cut just a few slight changes.

You will notice a slight change in my blog. I'm trying something new. I really want to design something and I've been working on it in my spare time. I may still switch over to wordpress. I still haven't decided yet.

Oh, I'm in need of a good flat iron, but I don't want to pay for Chi...Anyone got any good ideas?

Weekend plans: I need to grocery shop today and then prep up some food for next week. Saturday we are going to see the HOGS practice and then on Sunday we are doing the church thing and then my dads birthday party. His birthday is actually the 13th, but we are celebrating on Sunday so everyone can attend.

Have a good weekend!

Thursday, August 7, 2008

Still busy with work. I know I've said this before, but when I took this job in 2005, I spent most of my summer begging for work. Now I can hardly stay above water.

Today is Thursday which means planning for the weekend begins today. The husband and I have plans to hit up some of the hog football practices this weekend. Probably most of the day on Saturday. Then Sunday it will be back to church. We haven't been the greatest at going to church like we should. In fact, we've been slackers. I will more than likely hit the pool on Sunday and then also do some cleaning of the house. I have America's Got Talent on my DVR and I need to go watch it.

Last night we watched the HBO special Hard Knocks on the Dallas Cowboys. We watched it last year on Kansas City and thought it was very interesting. This year though it is even better. One of our former Hog Running Backs Felix Jones is playing for the Cowboys this year so that was fun to see him on the show. It is only a 4 week program, so it won't last long.

My food is going good. Still on track for the month of August. In fact, after today it will be 7 days! I've actually been on track longer than that, but since we started this challenge on August I'm tracking from that point on.

Tonight I'm getting my hair cut and highlighted. I'm going to go for a slightly different cut. More of a wedge cut than usual.

Almost the weekend....

Day 6 of the Staying On Track Challenge

Remember I told you all about the August Staying on track challenge that I am participating in? Well, it began on Friday and will run until Sunday August 31. I am right on track with Day 6. I have kept to my promises. I am exercising and eating as clean as possible.

Exercise has been rough, I won't lie. I am not motivated in this area right now. The heat is insane and my exercise time is limited due to outside activities and the fact that I just can't make myself get up at 4:00 am. Some people can do it and those that can...More power to you, but I just can't. I require 7-9 hours of sleep a night. If I could I would, but right now early morning exercise just isn't in the cards for me. So, all that being said, I do my exercising at night. With the heat I can't even begin to think about it till 8:00. Last night I did my exercising at 8:00 and let me tell you, it felt good getting it in and done.

Tonight, we need to do yard work, but then I plan on getting some more exercise in. Part of the challenge is eating right and exercising consistently. I must stay on track.

I have to give a shout out to my friend Dawn...she got in some size 6's.....WOOHOO! Great job Dawn! You hear me talk about her all the time, well, she is a dear friend of mine. We both live in Arkansas about 2 hours from one another. Trust me, I wish I lived in her town. Maybe one day, but that is another story. She and I met on the WW Staying Local Board 3 years ago. Man am I glad we did. We have so much in common....just to mention a few: RAZORBACKS (GO HOGS), weight, running, staying healthy, eating clean, PNP, and the list goes on and on. She is my dearest friend. SO glad that we crossed paths. I post her blog all the time, but here it is again: Dawn you should check her out, she is always so motivating!

Food is good. I need to clean it up just slightly, but for the most part I'm still following Corinne's menus. Corinne is in a competition this weekend and next. This gal is simply amazing. She went from 110 lbs over weight to a phenomenal phitness queen. She looks awesome and will do wonderful in both competitions. She is blogging about it and will probably post some pictures after it is all over. Check her out too! PNP

I must get going. I have a list a mile long of things I must get accomplished!

Day 6 here I come....

Quick Check in...

Quick check in, I have deadlines at work.

Food is pretty good, exercise is okay. I'm planning a run tonight.

Record Heat in Arkansas

It is miserable in AR right now. Temps are 100+ degrees. In fact, I hear we are suppose to see record highs this week. So miserable.

We got our AC fixed. We had to pay extra for a weekend call, but it was worth it. It was a minor thing thank goodness. It took until Sunday afternoon to get out house back to normal.

Saturday night we went to a baseball game and just about died. It was 90 degrees at 10:00 at night and the humidity was insane. I was miserable then too!

Our weekend was good otherwise. We mainly stayed around our house or my parents. Yesterday I went to the pool for about an hour, but the water was like taking a bath, so we didn't stay all that long.

Yesterday I also got some food prep accomplished. I didn't get all week done, but the only thing I need to work on is my lunch for 3 days. Otherwise it is all done.
I did good this weekend with eating. The AC being out sort of derailed my plans, but I still ate reasonably and pretty clean foods at that. I didn't really do a MB boost. I guess a small one, because I did indulge in a tiny piece of chocolate cake with a little icing. Otherwise that was all.

I am trying to go small on the MB so I can indulge in a big one in a few weeks.

Projects are due so I need to run.

I'm sleepy.

Saturday, August 2, 2008

AC Broke and the temps outside are 100+!

Last night the AC unit in our house stopped working. At 2:30 am we loaded up and headed to my parents. Luckly, my parents live within a mile, so it worked out perfect.

We hope to have it fixed today with out costing an arm and a leg.

Give it up for me!

Update on challenges:
  • Lunch out-A+.
I went to lunch with my dad and sister. We actually went at 11 instead, so I brought my snack along with me. It was 1 1/2 rice cakes with splenda, cinnamon and a few almonds. I ate that while they at lunch. I even drank 3 glasses of water. We mostly chit chatted so that helped me also. One positive was the food didn't even look good! WOOT, WOOT. I did great!
  • Night at the Ball Park-A.
I'm giving myself an A on this one too, I did great. I ate my dinner before I went. Then while at the ball park I munched on a little fruit and a few peanuts. Not tons, just a small portion of both. I also drank 1 diet coke and 2 bottled waters. Again, I did great! WOOT, WOOT!

Today will be planning day. I worked briefly yesterday, but I need to finish up my plan for the weekend and my plan for next week. I did lose a total of 4.4 lbs. My scale was the same this morning as it was yesterday. I am FINE with that. Seeing as I had a DOR with all my activities yesterday.

The only downer on following the menus was I didn't have enough variety, so I'm going to change that this next week and eat some different items. That should help.

Overall, I am pumped about my week on plan. I will indulge in some sort of Metabolic Boost or cheat at some point this weekend, but I am going to make it a small one. I'm saving up for a BIG one the weekend of August 16. I am heading to Nashville, TN to see my trainer and two other friends compete in a Figure Competition. I can't wait.

I am also going to lead a challenge over at PNP for the next month. It is called the Staying on Track for 31 Days Challenge. It begins today! In fact, I'm challenging any of my blog friends to take the challenge on with me. Basically it is just being consistent with your eating plan and exercise. Very simple!

Weekend plans:
Friends are coming over tonight to play Rock Band. This is a friend of my husbands. He and his wife got married about a year ago. I just met her for the first time last night. She seems really nice and friendly. So, they are coming over tonight, then on Saturday we are going back to the ball park and on Sunday it will be all about food prep. Gotta get my week off right.

Have a good weekend!
