Challenging Thursday!

So, I have two challenges today:
  • Our company has invited us to a Night at the Ball Park. Food and beverages are provided, however, I 've packed my cooler so I don't plan on eating ANYTHING...You heard me ANYTHING! I'm posting this here because I want to be able to come back here tomorrow and tell you I succeeded. I have my cooler packed and ready for my entire day! I can do this. I'll be drinking water during dinner.
  • My sister called me yesterday and asked if I could go to lunch with she and my dad. Great! I told her I would LOVE to come for the conversation, but that I would just be drinking my water. She understood. So, again, I will either eat before I go, or eat when I return. We are going at 11:30, so I may eat before I go. If my belly is full I'll be less tempted by the food. We are also going to a cafeteria type of place, so I should be able to resist anything. I'll be drinking water during lunch!

So, that is my day today! Like I said I am prepared. I can accomplish this.

Last night I got in a run! HELLO, I am back in running mode. I did 3:2 instead of 4:1 for 20 minutes, then I ran continuously for 6 minutes for a total of 26 minutes. This is a small start, but it was more than I've done since my last 1/2 marathon. WOOHOO!

As for food...still working it!

Today is already a busy day. I have tons of work to accomplish.

By the way, I'm thinking about possibly moving my blog. I've been doing some research on wordpress. Anyone got any feedback? Thanks

It Feels So Good

I am feeling GRR-EAT!

My eating has been to the T, my exercise is back and in full swing and my scale is going down. WOOHOO! So I weighed this morning. The last time I weighed was Friday and it was DEPRESSING! This morning it was much better. I'm seeing my hard work pay off. So far I'm down 4 lbs from Friday. I'll do an official weigh in on Friday though and post my results. I'm pleased with 4 lbs.

As I've said before, my food is ready for the day. Basically eating the same thing. I am actually eating that same menu all week, just different dinners. Tonight is Talapia with cauliflower and a giant spinach salad.
I am enjoying the menu that Corrine put together on her site. Man, she knows what she is talking about.

Dawn is doing some of her menus this week also. We've been chatting back and forth on several things. Yesterday she sent me two links on grapefruit. Here they are:

Basically it has a fat burning enzyme in it....sounds good to me!

So every night since purchasing Rock Band, the husband and I have been playing. I'm getting good on the singing. It is enjoyable to play at night before bed.

100th Post and a Rockin Day!

So, I've been reading blogs for several years now. Back in March I decided it was officially time for one of my own. Today marks my 100th post, wow!

I've also had over 3000 hits in the last couple of months, so that rocks too!

So yesterday was awesome. I mean I was on track perfectly. I ate my planned food, I exercised and got in my water. What more could a gal ask. I even ate my grapefruit. Not a huge fan, but I'm growing to love it. In fact, my trainer recommends it before and after exercise. I'm thinking I need to go see her reasoning behind hit. Just for curiosity sake. I trust her. She knows what she is talking about. I'll have to keep you all posted on the grapefruit part.

My food today is basically the same as yesterday. Just a minor change at dinner.
B:3 egg whites, 1 slice of 2% cheese, tortilla, grapes
S:1 1/2 rice cakes, sprinkle of cinnamon and splenda
L: Lentil soup with ground turkey, side of spinach salad
S:1 tortilla with ham filled with spinach
D: 2 eggs, 1/2 cup oats and 6 asparagus spears
S:Grapefruit
S:Protein Shake

Tonight will be more exercise...not sure yet what I'm planning on doing. Will see. It won't be until after I work a WW meeting, so it will depend on what time I'm finished and how hot it is outside. In Arkansas, we are reaching temps at 100 degrees! It is miserable.

I am feeling so much better....Just one day of good food and exercise makes such a difference.

Very Productive Weekend!

This weekend the husband and I watched my nephew all weekend. He is 8 and full of energy. In fact, we laugh that we think he never comes up for air he talks so much. He is a HUGE Razorback and St. Louis Cardinal fan, so he and the husband get along great!

Here is what I did all morning yesterday:

Food PREP! I got everything all ready for the week. You will see eggs that I did as omelets, soup, salad, meat for wraps, rice cakes, etc.
I'm all set and ready for a successful week. I'm looking forward to all of it. Yesterday everything looked so yummy and healthy.

Goals for today:
Eat according to my planned meals
Exercise

Tonight I'm back to running! Like I mentioned last week I am really thinking about running a Marathon in the spring. I know for a fact I'll run a 1/2 again in December, so I want to pick my running back up.


Off to eat breakfast: 3 egg whites, 1 slice of 2% cheese, wrap, and 1/2 cup of grapes.

WOOT, WOOT....Here's to a successful weekend and not a weakend!

Disappointed in myself :(

I am so discouraged with myself.

On Tuesday morning I jumped on the scale. I wanted to see my damage from vacation so I could get off those few lbs I had gained. So it wasn't just a few lbs it was more like 7 lbs. All week long I was trying to eat better, watch my points, etc. I wasn't eating clean, but I was staying within my WW point range.
I am not going to lie and say I've been good, but I haven't been awful either! This morning I hopped on the scale again and saw a number I haven't seen in MONTHS, YEARS! It was up almost 10 lbs from the beginning of the summer. I've gained almost 10 lbs this summer!

So here lies the reason I'm depressed. 10 lbs is huge for me. I've totally just fallen off the wagon and I need some help jumping back on. I know that probably half of that is water. No way I've not been that bad. It is past time to jump back on board.
The number that my scale read is now plastered in my mind. I even put it in HUGE numbers on my computer so I could see it. Every time I want a bite of this or that, that number will be staring me down. Hey, it works for me, so don't' knock it!

At Phit and Phat, Corinne gives us daily/weekly menus we can use. I've already printed them off and I'm starting my grocery list. Enough is enough. I can't let 10 lbs turn into 15 or 20. I'm just disgusted with myself.

However, starting today I'm back on. No more being down and depressed. This is a change I have to make and I'm not letting that number derail me.

As for my exercise plan:
I'm thinking I'll start training for another half marathon. Sure, I didn't lose much weight last year, but it kept me at the maintain point. Once I drop these few lbs 8-10, hovering around 150 is fine with me. In fact, I feel good at 150 lbs. So starting in August, I'll start my running up again. Maye the next week will allow me to shed a few lbs before doing so.

I really have aspirations of doing a full marathon one day. Dawn called me last night and she and I discussed it. Depending upon my future family, I'm thinking I may do a full marathon with her March 2010. You may be asking why not this March? Well, if I'm up for it, I may just do it. If I train for another 1/2 marathon from now until December, I'm half way to a marathon. If I keep up my after my December 1/2 then ideally I'll be ready for a full come March.
I'm just thinking here. I know for now I need to get back in good shape and running seems to be best way of doing that.

Only 37 days until the first HOG game!

So, we have a count down going. We have count downs for everything.

37 days until our Hogs take on Western Illinois on August 30. We are just so ready. I told the husband yesterday that we are going all out for the first game. Tailgating and all! We just have so much fun! I told him it would be an all day affair. He agreed of course. Our friend Brandon will also join us. We 3 try and tailgate for as many games possible.

For those of you that don't remember we attend ALL football games. Home and away. This year we travel to Texas, Auburn, S. Carolina and Ms. State. Exciting!

The husband forwarded me an article today on Tusk. He is the Razorback Mascot. Here is the article if you are interested: TUSK

Isn't he just adorable. The article says he enjoys grapes, so I may just need to go by and visit Tusk with a hand full of grapes. Obviously I won't feed him myself, but I may put them in his cage so he can eat them later.

On to the reason I have this blog...
My food is progressing slowly. I am still not 100% on track, but I'm doing much better than I was.

I am thinking about training for another half marathon. It is the St. Jude's Half on December 6. If I am going to do it, I need to start my training in August, so I need to start making some decisions.
I seemed to do better when I was training for something. That seemed to keep me on track better.

I'll keep you posted as to what I decide.

Vacation recap

So, I returned yesterday to work with three deadlines on my desk. One of which I was aware of, the other two I wasn't.
I will get them done, but it stinks to come back from vacation having to bust your rump to get it all done in enough time. I was hoping to sort of ease back into things.

The vacation was great like I said.
It rained 2 times and that was all. It was HOT. In fact, all most miserable at times, but the pool and ocean helped with that.
My uncle has several condos in Destin and he happened to be in town the same week, so we visited with him on several occasions. In fact, one evening he took us to a place called Copper Grill. They had the best steak I have ever eaten. It was to die for.
Then we hit up several different seafood places. I was able to eat crab legs, which I love. Then we also cooked in once. My sister and I went down and bought some fresh seafood from a market and we cooked BBQ Shrimp. So yummy!

Mostly we just relaxed. I read the entire time. It was wonderful. I love vacations that actually let you sit and relax. It was definitely what I needed. I hated to come back home, but I guess if I want to go on vacation, I have to work.

I will tell you that I ate what I wanted when I wanted. I did exactly what "I" wanted. I even indulged in a few nightly beverages. As my nephew called it "adult goodness". I did a crystal light drink, mixed with some Malibu rum and let me tell you, you'll have that thing sucked down before you know it. It was so yummy and so worth it.

Everyday I walked on the beach. Usually it was several times in 15 minute intervals. Sure, I wouldn't call that real exercise, but it was something. I just LOVE walking on the beach with the water hitting your ankles. I swear if I lived in a resort town, I'd be exercising on the beach daily.

Overall, I'll be back next year because I just love the ocean and the beach.

I wish I could share more, but I can't! Work is insane!

Back from Vacation!

I returned back from vacation! I actually got back yesterday (Monday). I was suppose to return on Sunday, but we had a slight change of plans and stayed one more day. I'm glad to be home, but the routine this morning was rough.
In fact, I'm still trying to get in my groove!

Vacation was wonderful. It rained a little the first two days, but after that we didn't see any rain the rest of the week. The only other bummer was our tent broke in one of the storms, so we looked a little funny with our half ass tent. Oh and the water wasn't as clear as it usually is, but other than that, the vacation was wonderful.
It allowed me to step out of my everyday routine and just enjoy some fun!

Good Morning, Good Morning!

That was me in my little country singing tune! You know the annoying one that your grandma is always singing! :)

I'll be here for the next 8 glorious days starting Saturday!

Last night I got my packing done...nails accomplished and toenails painted. My toenails are just too cute for words. I did orange with a cute palm tree on them.

I don't have the most attractive toes....in fact the husband makes fun of me because my second toe is considerably LONGER than my first. OH well!

Please wish me luck with filming. I'm ready to be on vacation and I can't officially declare that until this project is over.

Tonight I'm headed to a visitation for the women that passed away. Then tomorrow the husband will attend the funeral. I would, but I'll be filming that show.

Busy Wednesday

Today is very hectic for me. I'm trying to finish up last minute things at work. Tomorrow is officially my last day of work before vacation, but it seems like I have tons of things to accomplish.

Yesterday we found out a close friend of my husbands family passed away. It is very sad. We aren't sure when the funeral is yet, so we are waiting to see about our plans for leaving.

Tonight I have to pack....regardless it must get done! I haven't done much of anything and tomorrow night I'm booked solid and Friday much of the same.

Friday is my program shoot. I'll try and take some photos so I can post those. Things seem to be on so far. With the possible funeral on Friday, I really wish again that this could be postponed but so far I haven't had any luck.

Last night was more HIIT and some ab/push ups.

Just a few more sleeps...

Until my vacation! I know all of you are ready for me to go, so I'll quit talking about it. I just can't help it. I'm just beside myself with joy that my beach vacation is almost here.

The husband and I are going with my sister, her husband and the nephew. So, five of us are making the trip to FL. We are taking her suburban so we can have lots of room. Yesterday my BIL asked if we were interested in leaving on Friday? We told him possibly. Looks like we may leave earlier than originally planned.

I took Friday off of work not only to finish up stuff for my trip, but I am also filming that TV pilot that day. I am so wishing I would of postponed that. I feel like it is just looming over me. I'm in vacation mode and that has me stressed out. Because of my Radio/TV background I know what it takes to film a 30 minute spot. It isn't a piece of cake. You shoot for hours trying to get the best run at it. I know that being this is our first show, it could take the entire day. I refuse to half do something, I'm not going to be made to look like a fool.
So, as of now the production gal has yet to tell me what time we are filming. Sometime that afternoon is all I get. Afternoon? Looks like I may be filming into the evening. Who in this world wants to film on a Friday afternoon? I would prefer not to do so, but I'm afraid I don't have a choice. So, that may interfere with our leaving on Friday plans.

Yesterday I also went by to pick out some clothing for the shoot. First of all, the company that was selected was not my choice. All they carry is sleeveless short mini dresses. These are adorable, and for the right occasion I am all about it. However, for a TV cooking program, I'm not so sure. So, I had to pick out a few options. The plan was to pick 3 out, and carry them with me for the shoot on Friday. After I finished trying some on, I was told that I couldn't take them with me and that I would need to send my producer up to finalize an outfit and that it wouldn't be ready for me to have until Friday morning. I am fine by this, I just wish I was told of this ahead of time. I wouldn't of made it a point to go early in the week, etc. One thing that had me puzzled was the lady acted as if I was trying to pull one over on her. Yep, you know me, I was going to steal those clothes!

Last night I did a good power walk with the husband. It was H-O-T! We went at 6:30 and the temp was around 90 degrees....It was a good 45 minute workout, because I was drenched.

I got home in enough time to watch the Bachelorette on DVR. I gave it enough time that I could fast forward commercials. I love that feature. Anyhow, I was a little surprised at who she selected, but it was obvious she was smitten with him. I hope they ask that guy that got rejected to come back on the show as the Bachelor. He seemed like such a great guy.

Tonight is a WW meeting, then home to exercise and a little more organization for my trip. I was going to do that last night, but I never got around to it.

Today I have on a cute shirt I bought this weekend. I bought it for a chump change....$4.97 to be exact. You can't buy lunch for that! It is too cute, I love it.

Happy that Monday is finally here...

Odd statement I know, but this was by far the longest weekend ever. I guess because I'm just so looking forward to this weekend, that I didn't ever think Monday would get here!

The husband and I had a great weekend. Friday we did some work around the house. We got out and exercised first thing that morning. We did HIIT again. Then that afternoon we did a little shopping and then went to a July 4th Celebration at my sisters in laws house. I did the pizza dip and it was a HIT! Seriously, it was wonderful. I did mine in the oven vs the microwave and the only thing I'll change is I let it stay in the oven a little long. I wanted it to stay warm seeing as that is how it is best. I let is cook a little long in that the cheese had hardened slightly in the dip. It still tasted awesome, but next time I'll serve immediately.
I did pita chips with it and it was really good. It seriously did taste like pizza. My dad is on the no carb diet, so he ate it. He LOVED it! In fact, he said it was the best thing at the party...Ahhh how sweet! Of course he ate it minus the chips...he is so dedicated!

Then on Saturday we went to the inlaws. I told MIL I was looking for a swimsuit for Destin, so she and I headed out to the mall and other various shops. I never found anything, but she did hook the husband and I up. She bought the husband a swimsuit and a pair of shorts and she bought me the most ADORABLE hog flip flops. I already have one pair that I bought several years ago and they are looking a tad on the worn out side, so she bought me a new pair. These are slightly different. I'll have to post a picture of them at a later time. They are just too adorable.

Then on Sunday we did the pool for a little while. A storm was trying to brew, so they made everyone get out of the pool. Again, DH and I got out and did HIIT and we both lifted some. I worked arms yesterday. I am also still going along with my push ups and ab exercises each day.

This week is crazy for me. I have something every night this week. Then, I'm also trying to get ready for vacation. I think tonight I'm going to try and start packing because each night this week I'm booked solid. Yesterday I tried to start gathering a few things up and try to organize somethings for the trip.

Overall, we had a great 4th weekend, but I'm glad that Monday is here...I'm anxious to get the week going so it will go by fast.

Happy 4th of July a day early....

Happy July 4th. I know I'm a day early, but I won't be blogging tomorrow.
We are attending a cookout tomorrow evening and I'm bringing this recipe. I heard about it on a local radio program that was asking for good July 4th recipes. I've never tried it before, so I have no idea if it is good, but it sounds good. Also, this isn't WW friendly or healthy by any means, therefore I'll only be having a bite.

Hot Pizza Dip
1 pkg. soft cream cheese (8oz)
1 pkg. pepperoni slices
1 Tblsp. chopped black olives
1 Tblsp. Italian Seasoning
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 Tablsp. chopped green bell pepper
1 cup Pizza Sauce

Chop pepperoni and heat in microwave to remove excess oil. Mix cream cheese and Italian seasoning and spread in glass dish. Top with pizza sauce, pepperoni, both cheeses, black olives and green peppers. Heat in microwave until bubbly in the middle. Serve with pita or bagel chips.

I'm thinking I will cook mine in the oven verses the microwave.

Also, as I was typing this up, I realized I could make this healthier by using turkey pepperoni, lighter cream cheese and even lighter cheeses. I may do it.

So tomorrow is a cookout, then to my inlaws on Saturday and then on Sunday probably the pool and some shopping.

Last night the husband and I exercised together. Remember he's been trying to exercise more and get healthier too. We did some lifting and then some of the high intensity training. We sort of adopted our own HIIT. We did 3 minutes walking, 2 minutes jogging, then we did 8-20 second sprints, then we jogged for 4 minutes, walked for 4 minutes, then jogged for 2 1/2 minutes. It was about 25 minutes long in the end. Let me tell you, we did this outside at 6:30. We were soaked! I had a really good workout last night with the husband! We'll be doing that again.

I'm also reading a Danielle Steel novel right now. I just love her. The husband calls it my smut, but who cares. She keeps me interested. I'm reading Dating Game. I use to read her novels all the time, but I sort of got busy and stopped reading her regularly. Anyhow, we went to the library on Saturday so I picked up a couple books I hadn't read. I'm almost done with Dating Game. It has been really good. I love reading at night. It relaxes me. So, for the last few nights I've read while the husband watches the St. Louis Cardinals play.

Well, I have some work to do. The husband is applying for a job and I told him I would get his resume sent off, so I need to do that. Wish us luck, it would be a great job if he got it! His dream job in fact!

Almost the long weekend...

Good Morning. Happy Wednesday! Only 2 more days in this work week. Woohoo for long weekends and holidays.

Last night my meeting about the pilot tv program went great. We are planning on shooting our first episode on July 11. I'm excited and nervous about it. I told her I needed some clothing, so hopefully she will work a deal with a local dress shop to let me wear some of the clothing for the shoot.
We met at starbucks last night. I got an iced tea and it was delicious. It was called Berry Blossom White. I just had her make me hot tea and then I poured ice over it with a little sweet-n-low. Very nice treat. I enjoyed it. Of course the cookies, muffins, and cake behind the glass counter looked good, but I was very happy with my tea.

Food is going great for me. I've really stuck to a plan. I did exercise on Monday, but last night due to 2 meetings I just couldn't fit it in.

Tonight is ST and Cardio.

This weekend we plan on going to a July 4th party on Friday and then my inlaws on Saturday. We need to go and visit them. They are much older than my parents. FIL is 85 and MIL is 78..something like that. Not that this is old, but my parents are early 60's, so it is a slight difference. We will probably also visit our favorite BBQ place. It is famous here in our parts. Then on Sunday I may lounge by the pool. My sisters birthday is on the 5th, so I'm sure we will celebrate that on Sunday at my parents house. She was the one I posted earlier this week. I think she will be 36 on her birthday. Yikes, that is getting close to 40!

I also have a few items I need to pick up for my beach vacation, so I'll do that sometime this weekend also. I thought I might run by Old Navy and pick up a few pairs of cheap flip flops. I love my Havaianas flip flops. I have a black and brown pair, but I need some cheaper ones to carry down on the beach. I think Old Navy has them for $2.50 a pair. Dirt Cheap in my opinion.
Yesterday I tried to go over and purchase a cute beach bag and have my name embroidered on in it. I told her that I didn't need it until July 11, but she told me that the soonest it could be ready was July 12. Why couldn't they of bumped it by 1 day? So, I couldn't get it. I was slightly irritated by that. That just stinks! The bad part is they lost my business because they couldn't have it ready. I feel like a week and a half is plenty of opportunity to get it done too. By all means all they are doing is adding on a name to an already done up bag? Oh well, I thought I might call them today and tell them I would even pick it up late on Friday the 11th if they would let me. I'm probably trying to beat a dead horse, but I really wanted that bag. I should just give up shouldn't I?

Off to work on our quarterly newsletter...I need to get it out before I leave on vacation.

Let the countdown begin!

We are finally in the month of my vacation. I've been waiting for a long time to finally see the month of July! It is official, today is July 1 and my vacation is just 11 days away.

Yesterday was a really good food day for me. I ate right on plan. I got out for some exercise too. Lately I've been slacking in both areas. I've just not been up to it.

Last week I challenged my WW members to journal this last week. Today is my meeting so we'll see how they do. I journaled most of my food with them and I was down a few lbs. Funny how journaling will do it. It seems to hold me accountable.

L:Ham Sand, green beans, and spaghetti squash (last two items came from my sisters garden)

Tonight I have a crazy evening. I have a WW meeting and then another meeting with a friend of mine. I've been asked to possible do a pilot TV program for our local cable company. More to follow after I get some details.
