Final Day of March!

March is over, I just can't believe it.

6 Days until the Hogeye! This will be my second 1/2 marathon. I am ready though. I rocked my 6 miler this weekend. This week will be more of a taper/rest week in prep for the race this weekend. This will by far be the hardest race yet for me. The elevation on this race is insane! I mean up down, up down! It won't be easy, but will be so rewarding. I am doing it with my friend Dawn and Julie. We are all ready. We've spent the last 9 weeks busting tale. Here is the elevation of this race!
This is my running plan for the rest of the week: Long Run 4-6 miles, 3 miles, 3 miles
Exercise Plans for the week:
Monday:ST, Abs
Tuesday:Short run 4 miles, Abs
Wednesday: Short run 3 miles, Abs
Thursday: Short run 2-3 miles, abs
Sunday: 13.1 miles!

Food for today:
B:Oatmeal, banana, coffee
S:Apple/cheese stick
L:Black Bean Burger, tortilla, raw carrots
D:Salad, taco meat, light cheese, olives, light sour cream, black beans
S:Protein Shake

I've got to get going. Work is busy, busy, busy!

Diet Coke Cake=Yum!

My first WW Meeting-
I thought it went great. I went in prepared to give a speech on trigger foods which we talked about, but then I also brought in a few products to show. I brought in Fiber One Bars and also La Tortilla Factory Tortillas. They were excited to see both and asked if I would bring more things in. So, this week I'll gather up a few more items to bring. Overall, I thought it went good. I wish I would've talked a little longer, but I think they were fine with it. One thing that I hope changes is participation. Nobody would really say anything. It is much better when they actually talk and participate. I think when someone new comes in, it is normal for people to feel a little apprehensive. Overall, I would say it was a success.

Second, I didn't exercise last night. My friend who works out with me, worked in her yard all day and was tired so she cancelled on me. I didn't want to go by myself and I know this is an excuse, but I find it a valid one. The hills I was going to walk is a new area in our town. It is just now being developed. It is sort of "woodsy" and not many people are around the area. I find it a little intimidating to do by myself because you just never know. I opted to take a DOR last night. I have worked out everyday so far this week, so I don't find that too awful. One thing I didn't do was spend a little ab time. I must do something daily. I promised myself I would. I'll just need to do something double to make up for yesterday.

Tonight I am going to do my MB. The husband said that Catfish sounded good, so I guess we'll head for fish. I don't normally eat catfish that much, but since my experience last week wasn't all that grand, I figured I might as well try again.

Finally, the Diet Coke Cake...the reason for the title. I've been doing WW for years and have always heard about how awesome Diet Coke Cake is. My friend Dawn says it is great along with many others. (Off topic, but I finally figured out how to name a link...woohoo me!) So, I decided last night I would make it so I could have that with my MB tonight. You can do so many different varieties. I tried Strawberry Cake Mix with 2 cups of Diet 7 up. I then topped it with some light cool whip. I have to admit I tried some last night and it was awesome. LOVE it.
So, the recipe is any cake box mix, plus two cups of any diet soda of your choice. Trust me you can get creative here. Dawn uses Diet Dr. Pepper with Chocolate, so see, you can select anything. I have also heard of Diet Orange Slice in a white cake mix, Diet Sprite with a lemon cake mix, etc. etc.
So, I just went on WW message boards and found this...
Diet Soda Cakes Serving Size : 12 or 24 cup cakes
  • 1 box dry cake mix
  • 2 cups diet soda any flavor
  • 1 or 2 egg whites -- slightly beaten, optional but cake stays together better and is fluffier

Mix the dry cake mix, the diet soda, and the egg white(s) until well blended. Pour into a 9 X 13 sprayed pan or prepared cupcake tins. Cook according to the directions on cake mix box.

NI: Depends on cake mix used.

**I wanted to add...I didn't use the eggs either. I just found that and thought it was interesting you could add that as an alternative.
After reading
Amy and Jen say they didn't use eggs, I remembered I was meaning to say the same thing. In my opinion it was very need for the egg whites.
Exercise for the week
Saturday: 6 mile run, abs
Sunday: Abs
Have a great weekend!

I'm dreaming of a Cute Bikini....

Yesterday Angie posted a challenge:
Operation Wedding Dress
No, I am not getting married, but I decided I would participate. My goal though is a cute Bikini for my summer Beach Vacation. The husband and I are heading to Destin, FL for 8 days! July 12-20: Count Down: 107 days!

So, last year I wore a bikini, but I just didn't feel all that grand in it. This year I want to wear it proudly. Without feeling insecure, or embarrassed. Here I am on the beach last year. I have on my tankini, because I still felt insecure.

So, here I am again vowing to really trim down and work on my abs. That is really the only area that is of concern to me. So, my goal during Operation Wedding Dress is to drop some inches around the middle. I think this is coming at a good time, because our trainer is about to start the April challenge which looks like it will be all on the tummy/ab area. LOVE IT!
So, everyday my plan is to post my exercise for the day.
Yesterday I did a ST routine of arms, chest, back. I then followed it up with several ab exercises.

Exercise Plan for Thursday:
I have a speed walk planned on some hills. (Remember I'm still in the running mode). I am running two half marathons in April. One of those is very hilly, so tonight I am going to walk some good hills. The reason I am walking and not running is I already did two short runs this week of 4 miles each and I have my long run of 6 miles scheduled for Saturday. Tonight is an added bonus. I just want to get more hills in the mix. Then tonight I will also do another round of some ab stuff. Each night I want to do something on my abs. Even if it is only 25 situps. I just really want to focus hard on my abs.

I know that along with this comes a stricter diet of less carbs. I am such a carboholic. I love them. I really need to start now by eating less carbs in the evening.

Food Plan for Thursday:
B:Oatmeal, Protein Powder (NASTY...I don't know why I keep trying it) Will have to find me something else for breakfast
S:Cottage cheese
L:Turkey Wrap Tortilla, spinach, carrots, light sour cream dip (2 tbsp)
S:Apple, Yogurt
D:Stir Fry minus the rice. Mainly just veggies, chicken, and a smidge of olive oil
S:SF Pudding

Today is my first WW meeting alone. I'm excited. I may do a follow up post to let everyone know how it went.

Happy Thursday Blog Friends.......

Spring is here!

Spring is here! Let the fun begin.....
Yesterday in Arkansas it was 75 degrees and sunny! It was awesome!

Yesterday DH got the Jeep out and washed it up and took it apart. I know Spring is here when he starts getting prepared for the summer. Normally we take off the jeep top in the Spring and then leave it off until fall. He will even get wild and crazy and take the doors off. Hopefully I still have a few months though. I like the jeep with the doors, he likes it without.

I am also adding a picture of Brandon, me and the husband. He is our traveling Hog buddy. He goes to all of the Football games with us, and he learned yesterday about my new blog. I know the first question he'll ask is..."where is my picture", so in honor of Brandon. Here we are:

This is us at the LSU game. We won too by the way! GO HOGS!

Did I ever mention that DMAC (Darren McFadden) was my favorite hog player. He is doing very well right now in preparation for the NFL draft! Go Dmac! I say 'was' because he is off to play professionally.
I don't have a picture of me and Dmac, but here he is up on the big screen at Reynolds Razorback Stadium!

Now back to reality!

Food was good yesterday, I stuck to my plan and finished strong with a good 4 mile run. I also watched BL...was glad to see Dan finally go. He annoyed me!

Have a good day!

So far everything is in Check.....

Right now my trainer has a challenge going on.
"Motivation for Last Week of March"
This is for those of you who responded to my other "confession" post or read it and feel the same as many of us - that the last week of the month can be the hardest, that April 1 is right around the corner and that we've slipped off track a bit.

So yesterday I jumped on board! I had just not had the best eating weekend and I needed to get myself back in check. Each day we report in our plans and successes.
Yesterday turned out good for me. I ate good and exercised.

Food plan for today:
B:Oatmeal, Banana, Coffee
S:Cheese Stick, soy crisps
L:South Beach Diet Pizza
S:Yogurt/Protein Powder
D:Giant Spinach Salad, sprinkle of 2 % cheese, chicken, olives, light dressing
S:SF Pudding/PB

Short run of 3-4 miles, more ab exercises

Tonight is Biggest Loser, so after I work my WW meeting, I'll exercise and then catch the last half of BL.

Monday, Monday!

Happy Monday! Not sure what is happy about it. I sure would love to still be in bed.

I got word Friday that I may finally have my own Weight Watcher Meeting! This has been a long time coming. I've been weighing for a while now, but on Friday they called and asked if I would be interested in doing an At Work Meeting. The meeting began 5 weeks ago, so I'm picking it up right in the middle, but I'm okay with that. This will give me some experience, plus a little extra money each month.

Saturday I did a long run of 8 miles! It went fantastic. We incorporated some hills in the mix. I also tried Hammer Gels for the first time. It was Apple/Cinnamon flavor. Not great, but not bad either. It surprised me how well it worked. I've normally been fueling with Fig Newtons. I think I'm officially switching over to the gels.
Tonight I have a short run planned as well as a few ab exercises and some push ups.

Here is my food plan for today:
B: Oatmeal, Banana, Coffee
S1: Yogurt/Protein Powder
L: Turkey Wrap Tortilla with spinach and Laughing Cow Cheese, Raw Carrots, Orange
S2: Fiber One Bar
D: Baked Chicken with Salsa and a little taco seasoning, veggie
S3:SF Pudding, PB

Good Friday!

I can already feel it's going to be one of these mornings!

Fish Fry was a success! The food was just okay though. It wasn't anything to write home about. Sure I had some of it, but I didn't eat any of the Fried Fish (was small and hardly had any meat on it). I opted to have a couple pieces of chicken instead and a few of the shrimp. Overall, I didn't overeat at all. It just wasn't worth it to me.

I was on my way home last night and got stuck in a construction zone. Grr...I sat on the interstate for 20 minutes. I worked 13+ hours yesterday and I am feeling it. Too bad I don't get paid hourly!

Needless to say, I'm worn out and ready for the weekend.

For the last 3 years I've been in charge of the NCAA Bracket Game we do at work. I've already been tallying scores this morning. They are dying to know who is winning thus far. HELLO, Round 1 doesn't make you very many points people. Dh and I will be watching the games all weekend I'm sure. Our HOGS are playing Indiana tonight. I sure hope we an make it out of the first round!

Hope everyone has a good Easter Weekend.

I have a challenging few days ahead of me.

Fish Fry-Tonight is a company Fish Fry for work. We are treating clients to fried fish, hush puppies, french fries, fried shrimp, etc. Not too mention, we are serving up some awesome cookies from a local bakery for dessert! OH MY! I figure I would take today as a MB (metabolic boost).

Tomorrow night I've been invited to a Margarita/Spa Party. HELLO! I love me some Margaritas! I will need to limit myself because this could turn ugly if I let it. I'm not normally a drinker. Sure I'll indulge occasionally on a glass of wine or a margarita, but for the most part I don't like to use up cals on things like a drink. Just my opinion though. However, tomorrow night I want to have some fun with a few girlfriends, so I thought I would at least partake in one. My friends husband is making them, so maybe I can get him to talor a healthier one just for me. She also plans on having some appetizers. Hopefully she'll select some healthy ones. She is my running partner and we have a long run scheduled for the next morning, so we both can't get too wild and crazy!

Saturday shouldn't be too challenging. I MUST work in my yard. It is a disaster. Weeds are growing like a maniac and I need to get it treated. So, DH and I are going to do some major over haul in the yard on Saturday. I'm also planning a run of 8 miles that day.

Sunday is Easter and my parents are heading out of town, so we won't have a big Sunday lunch. I'll do something easy for DH and I. Then I plan on doing some strengh training. My focus will be arms/chest/back.

For the most part, this is my weekend plans! I have to work tomorrow, so I'll give everyone a run down on how the Fish Fry went!

Happy Thursday!

Interview Follow Up!

I thought the interview went okay. It started off good. I went in kissing some major behind and so that went well. Then the interview began with all the normal interview type questions, then the situational questions, etc. I did all that to the best of my ability. I though it went fantastic.

Then it came time for me to express any questions I might have. I asked about the hours. Because I carpool with my DH, I needed to verify that it woudn't be a problem continuing this on. The lady interviewing me acted like it would be a real big problem. I explained that obviously if the need arises and I need the car or need to work late, stay late, etc., that we can work out those details. She changed her tune a little after that, but her answer really through me off guard.

I also opted not to bring up the salary. I just hear too many bad things about doing that on the first one on one interview. I decided against asking.

She then told me that they plan on interviewing a few other candidates. That they wont' be making any decisions until around April 1. She told me that if they are interested they will then ask me back for second interview.

Like I said, I thought it went well until she asked about my hours. It was like she got all defensive.

Again, it may not be the right position for me. If it isn't, no harm done. At least I got some interview practice again.

Job Interview!

I have my job interview this morning at 11:30.

It is with the American Cancer Soceity.

BBL to let everyone know how it went!

Tired Tuesday!

Last night BUNCO was so much fun. I loved it. The lady hosting made Chicken Spaghetti, homemade bread, salad, and a pistachio pound cake. It was all excellent. The ladies were so sweet and I had a blast. I hope they ask me back again. I would LOVE to get in a regular group. I did indulge, but I also didn't over do it. I had a small serving of everything and felt very satisfied. She also didn't have bowls of stuff laying around, so I never felt the need to munch!

Tuesday's are always crazy busy for me. I work all day, then I work a weight watcher meeting. Not sure I ever told anyone, but I work for Weight Watchers. I am a trained leader, receptionist and weigher. I currently don't have my own meeting, right now I just weigh. I currently just have one meeting, at one time I had three.
Then after that I always workout, then I head home for the last part of the Biggest Looser.

I also had a job interview yesterday. I am sort of having second thoughts on it. Is that normal? I had my phone interview yesterday. It only lasted about 20 minutes. She asked me normal situational type questions and then a little about my current position. I didn't think it went all that well, but yesterday afternoon they called to schedule a one on one with me. DH and I talked about it last night and now I have a few reservations about it. Making a job change is huge. Yes, I have things about my current job I dislike, but I've been here almost 3 years. I am finally getting a 401K going, I am also saving part of my income, not too mention I provide dental insurance for both myself and DH. The interview is scheduled for tomorrow. I am going to go regardless. Worst case is I get a little practice on my interview skills!

I thought I might start posting my food and exercise logs. May not post them everyday, but I thought I would let you see what kind of exercises I do and what kind of food I eat.

Exercise: Short run of 3-4 miles, 100 push ups, 2 hardcore ab exercises
This is my food plan for today! Might change, but for the most part this should be it.

B: Steel Cut Oats, Blackberries, Coffee
S1:Cottage Cheese
L: Vegeterian Chili, side of Cheese, pear
S2: Yogurt and Protein Powder
D: Spinach Salad, light sprinkle of 2% cheese, chicken, light dressing
S3: SF Pudding

Weekend Wrap up!

St. Patrick's Day!

My weekend was good!
Friday, I helped my mom get ready for a Tea she was having. She served homemade sugar cookies, so she asked if I would help her get those decorated. I said sure, so I did. I am proud to say I didn't have one cookie, or one lick of the icing. GO ME! They turned out cute.

Saturday, I helped my mom serve the Tea. It was for her Sunday School Class. It went well. Again, I resisted all of the treats.
Saturday night Dh and I went out for a MB meal. We did Pizza and it was divine. Yummy! We watched the AR Razorbacks beat TN..Woohoo go Hogs. We then made it to the final round of the SEC Tournament.

Sunday, we went out to my sisters to watch the Hogs take on the Georgia Bulldogs. We just knew we had that game won. Of course they goofed off and had a horrible game. We lost! I did have another MB on Sunday. I don't normally do two in one week, but I indulged in a few treats at my sisters. It wasn't anything too bad, but I did partake in a few items.

My online trainer is doing a March Madness Challenge.
It is called the BLT Challenge....We all know what that is..Bites, Licks and Tastes. So last night after two weeks of resisting, I indulged in a bite of my mom's homemade apple pie. I caved! It was only a bite, but I did it. I now owe 20 push ups as punishment. I'll be doing those tonight. Darn that Apple Pie!

I was exhausted last night! I got my fingernails painted (Cajun Shrimp by OPI) and went to bed at 8:00. I was worn out. Dh had kept me up the night before with his snoring. Ugh!

Tonight I've been invited to my first ever BUNCO party! I am so excited. I tried to start a group up a few years ago, but it never took off. I'm excited. I'll let you know tomorrow how it went.

Also, wish me luck....I have a job interview today!

Have a Happy Monday and a good St. Patrick's Day!

Friday, March 14, 2008

Woohoo for Friday's!

I am so glad Friday is here! I am one exhausted chick. My husband was out of town last night for business and so that left me all alone at the house. I am okay with staying by myself, but I NEVER sleep good.
We also had storms roll into my area twice in the night, so that of course woke me up too.

I finished my 12 miles last night. We started about 5:20 and we walked for about a half a mile before we got started. The temps here were about 70 degrees. I haven't run in 70 degree temps in a while. I think it messed with me a little. I was wiped out by the time we finished. I got home about 7:45. Of course we also walked about a mile after we finished.

That was the longest part of my training so I'm on the downhill side now. I have two more long runs before my first race on April 6.

My weekend plans: My mom is hosting a Tea Party for her Sunday School Class, so she asked if I would help her out. Tonight I'm going over to help set it up and decorate sugar cookies. I'll have to be really careful and not tempt myself with any Bites, Licks, or Tastes. Then tomorrow I am helping her serve the tea. After that my weekend is free.
Every week as a part of my training/healthy eating I do what is called a Metabolic Boost (MB) or a Splurge/Cheat Meal. Everyone calls it something different. So I normally save mine for the weekends so Dh and I can enjoy a dinner out together. I'm thinking Pizza or maybe a good Hamburger with some FF. Will see come Saturday what I'm craving. Let me remind you though I eat according to plan all week long so I can enjoy this special meal. I look forward to them every week. It keeps me sane!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

All About Me Day 4!

I am 1 of 5 children. I was born and raised in Arkansas. I still live in the same town as I always have. This is me and my family at my parents 40th wedding anniversary back in June.

These are my two parents in the middle. Then you will see all of my sisters with husbands. Obviously that is me in the red tank top behind my mom. I do have one brother, he is on the far right in the back. In fact today is his birthday! Happy Birthday!

I work in downtown Little Rock for an engineering company. My title is Marketing Coordinator, but I do a little bit of everything. I mostly help our company win job by presenting information. I also create brochures, presentations, proposals, etc. I also plan events and anything else they may need.
Like I said, I basically do anything and everything. I've been with the company for 2 1/2 years. I am currently seeking other opportunities, but as of now, I'm still here.

My husband and I would LOVE to move back to the Northern part of the state. Right after we got married we briefly lived in Fayetteville. I loved it and so did he. Of course he graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law, so he spent a good 3 years living in Fayetteville. As for me, it was only about 6 weeks, but I loved every second of it.

Our dream one day is to go back. If and when the right job for my husband comes along we may just do that. My husband also works in Little Rock. He is an attorney.

Tonight I have a 12 mile run planned. I'll report back tomorrow on how it went.

Happy Thursday!

All About Me Day 3!-Running!

I am a Runner!

In September 2005 I had just started back to Weight Watchers. I was about 160 lbs and ready to start doing more than just a power walk. I kept hearing all over the weight watcher boards about the C5K program (Coach to 5K). So, I downloaded it and started. First of all, I was NEVER a runner growing up. In fact, I spent most of my childhood as the little chubby girl. I suffered from asthma as a child so I stayed on steriods. Due to the asthma I never ran, because I knew I couldn't do it.

Well, I've since grown out of the asthma, so I thought I'd give the program a try.
I remember the day I ran 3 miles without stopping. WOW, what a day indeed.
Since finishing the programs I have run multiple 5K's, 10K's, and recently a half marathon.
Two weekends ago, I ran with four friends in a Marathon Relay in Arkansas. We had a grand time.

In Several weeks I will run another Half Marathon with a friend of mine (Dawn)
She and I are also running the Nashville, TN Country Music 1/2.
April is going to be a BIG month for us!

I thought I would post a few pictures from some of my races:

The first picture is me with Dawn back in June of 2007. This was by far my favorite 5K. This was Featherfest in Springdale, AR. She had just given birth to her second daughter 10 weeks before the race. She finished without stopping! She was amazing! By far that was the best 5K ever!

This is the Las Vegas 1/2 Marathon that I did December 2007. Here I am with one of the Las Vegas show girls. I didn't realize I could've had the picture without her until it was too late. Oh well! I finished in 2:21:00! I trained during August-December and boy was it fun! I am currently training again for two 1/2's in April, so I am going through the training all over. This week in fact is my big 12 miler!

Finally, this is me with four of my friends during the Marathon Relay.
I had leg 2 which was 6.9 miles and I finished in 1:12:00.
From left to right: Dawn, Mary, Jessica, Lorie.

If you have ever had the desire to run, then do it! I always did but I never thought I could. I finally branched out and just started it. I promise you the feeling of crossing that finish line whether it is 1 or 26 miles is worth every second!

All About Me Day 2, part 2!

Day 2...Part 2

First of all, I use an online trainer. I am a member of
I've been with Corinne since July.

If you have a second, you should read her blogs. She has so much to say about fitness and getting healthy. I love her.
Here are a few pictures of me before and then in January. I haven't taken a recent photo and I need too! I may wait until the end of March to take one.

This is a side by side comparison. July 2007-January 2008. I'll post a new one at the end of March.

As for my eating plan
I follow WW Core mostly with Clean Eating incorporated in. If you have never read Tosco Reno
s Clean Eatin Diet, I highly recommend it. In fact, while you are it, go ahead and purchase her cookbook and sign up for the Clean Eating Magazine Subscription. You will love it I promise!
Next week I'll start posting some of my menus and exercise, this week I'm just trying to get everyone introduced to me.

Tomorrow....I'll share with you my love for running!

All About Me Day 2!

Day 2!

I am a huge Razorback Fan! DH and I try and go to as many games as we can. During Football season we don't miss a single one. Home and away. Here is DH and I this year. This is us at the AR vs. Tennessee game back in November. In the picture you will see Big Red one of the mascots! GO HOGS!

Starting a Blog......

I am Jessica. I am 29 years old. I started this blog to document my journey. I have been at Lifetime for 2 years. I have lost a total of 40 lbs on weight watchers. I am currently a member of
